Who Has Seen The Wind?

January 4, 2014 was a REALLY windy day.  I felt like I was living in O-O-O-Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping down the plain.  So I was looking for something to show wind activity, other than my flag.  My neighbor's yard decoration provided the perfect shot.

Defrosting....

Can't say that my 365 project has changed my life, but it did give me something to do while I was sitting in the car waiting for my windshield to defrost. My macros certainly need work! FYI, this was my Photo post for January 3, 2014

Grandma Cottrell's Birthday

Certain birds remind me of certain people.  Bright red male cardinals remind me of my mom, because she has always liked them and the color red.  Sometimes birds remind me of a person because of the way they look.  Doves all ruffled and puffed up against the cold remind me of someone I know.  The female cardinal with her bright dark eyes reminds me of my Grandma Cottrell and the twinkle in hers.  Today would have been her birthday---don't remember which one--but I picked this picture because it seemed up-beat and kind of neighborly, just right for a happy birthday remembrance....

Busted!

Much to my husband's dismay, my WSD (Weapon of Squirrel Discouragement) seems to have been working pretty well---until today.  Today is evidently a day of new beginnings and fresh starts for squirrels as well as people, so this one decided to try to snatch a few sunflower seeds from my deck rail.  He found out that he still doesn't like being blasted by a water gun, but I did snap a couple of quick photos first, so he was able to grab a couple of snacks for his trouble....

Will the Mystery Guest Enter and Sign In, Please!

I will probably end up using this as today's entry on my 365 project---not because it's the cutest bird or cleverest capture---I have other candidates for that---but because I don't know who he/she is.  That, and the green color, make this bird different from the cardinals, jays, titmice, chickadees, sparrows, wrens, doves, etc., who come dine on my deck rail every day.  It is hard to get a picture.  The little bird doesn't come every day and doesn't stay long when it does come, so this is the best photo I've been able to get, so far. If you know what it is, let me know.  I may post a couple more pictures from different angles.....

RATTLESNAKE!!!

I was just letting the cat out of the garage for the day.  She looked sleepy, as though I'd interrupted her nap, so she was taking her time coming down off the lawnmower seat.  Suddenly, to my right, I heard a sound that let me know I had disturbed something else, as well....Called my son on my cellphone to come kill it while I ran to get my camera for pictures.  Gotta have your priorities in order.  The snake was around 15-18 inches long---not huge, but big enough to be dangerous, so we killed it, bagged it and tossed it into the garbage because the cat was much to interested in it for us to leave it lying around.....

Playing In the Park

It's "All Boy" photos over at I Heart Faces---which gives me the perfect excuse for a shameless plug for the band my son plays in.  Seize The Eternal plays what I call alternative Christian rock---and they do it well---and they do it with the goal of reaching those who might not listen to a praise band or more traditional Christian music.  They're on I-tunes, they're worth hearing....Surely you have some plugs---I mean---pictures, with male faces in them, that you could share with us.  We'd love to see them!
